During a break in the session, Akona was busy giving instructions to the servants who were preparing the dinner. Her mind was not idle. So much news in one day, so many pieces of the puzzle! If only everything would go her way...

For one thing, the king's supply problems and the Azzgoth rebellion could only be the beginning. The conquered peoples, seeing Ha'ami in trouble on one of their borders, may be tempted to take risks and try to throw off the yoke themselves. This will create the need to fight on multiple fronts, giving commanders the opportunity to gain even more glory on the battlefield. And Ha'akon was one of the best.

Secondly, if Ha'sani's plan works, it will be they, the Ha'ami of the Stone Nest, and more specifically their ruler, who will come up with a solution to the salt supply problems for the entire land. This could weaken the king's position and at the next gathering the brothers will choose someone new... someone younger, braver and more deserving.

Akona summoned a servant who had been charged with preparing the evening's robes for the feast.

‘What robe have you for Ta'uma?’ she asked. The girl showed her three suggestions from which to choose.

‘Hmm... this one will highlight her eyes the best.’ She pointed to one. ‘Make sure it fits her figure well. Call a seamstress, just in case.’

The servant bowed and left.

Yes... there's also the matter of the girl. Berennike... Akona was the last person to believe in the dreams of desperate slaves. But that didn't mean she wouldn't use them for her own ends. A formal alliance with the Azzgoths might increase Ha'akon's chances of finally being elected to the position he was worthy of. And the Stone Nest, as prophesied, would become the capital of the Ha'ami lands. Yes, this was her time.

She believed it with all her might.
